"Life isn't a matter of milestones but of moments"
...so true..isn't it?
In the process of getting through major milestones in life, often we miss all the important moments that were worth capturing and storing in our memory.
This morning, as I sat compiling my 'year in review' post, I was lost in the very same thought. I was going through my blog trying to pick my top 10 favorites and was finding it so hard to pick and choose. Each one was special in it's own way and had some memory associated with it that made it different and unique. I had spent hours creating them, each one painted with love..how could I possibly choose between them?
Creatively, 2014, has been a year of milestones for me, but the moments leading to those milestones mean more than the milestone in itself!
For me, doing videos was the single most major milestone this year and I don't think I can ever forget the moment when I hit 'Publish' for the very first time on YouTube...what a feeling it was...I was opening myself to a hitherto unknown audience, the fact that these videos could be seen by anyone was definitely an overwhelming thought. I was and still am extremely critical of myself, I used to wonder if my voice would sound ok...if my art was worth watching...what if my accent was not understood, were my camera angles ok....there are already so many art videos out there, would people want one more?......many many thoughts and fears..enough to stop me from hitting the publish button..but.. I took comfort in the knowledge that videos could be deleted ......yayyyy. ...for that delete button!
... and finally listened to an inner voice which kept telling me to just 'do it' and....... I am so glad I did!
.......because..to my pleasant surprise, my audience was far more encouraging than I could have ever imagined. Whether it was kindness or interest in watercolors..they loved it and wanted more!
I felt blessed !
I am grateful for all those who supported and encouraged me and thought my YT channel was worth subscribing! I truly appreciate those who take the time to leave me a comment because I feel comments do take time and if someone leaves me one, I truly acknowledge their effort. Thank You!
And I must mention here, that before my first video went public on my YouTube channel, I did do a video for
Online card class- watercolor for cardmakers and that technically was my very first one and going by the response it received over there, I was encouraged to do more...so a huge THANKS to Jennifer McGuire who invited me to take a class and thus gave me the push I so desperately needed to start doing videos!
So, this year, instead of doing a top 10 favorite cards, which would
usually mean my favorites, I have decided to share your favorites - my most popular
videos!
Botanicals - my very first one on my YT channel!
Floral- the most popular ever !
Watercolor stamping
Poinsettia
Negative painting
I guess I should stop at five, otherwise I might end up with all 35 here!
So that kind of summarizes 2014 for me..it was all about sharing whatever little I knew and I hope to continue doing the same in the coming year.
Join me...let's travel together on this watercolor journey!
