CAS-ual Fridays

Time again for yet another CAS-ual Fridays challenge and with Easter and April fools Day just around the corner we are up for some  for tricky bunny projects.....but with a twist !

here is my take.....

A brunch invitation.  A couple of weeks back my friend mentioned that she was hosting an Easter Brunch this year coupled with an egg hunt and asked if I could make her some invites. Since it was just 3 families, I chose to do something a bit elaborate..... watercolor painting, stamping and embossing. ...and, all I can say is.... the smile on her face when I handed these invites to her made all the work so well worth it!
Along with these , I also made some watercolor sketchbooks for the kids (post egg hunt!)...but more about that in an upcoming post where I have a tutorial on how to make those books.

So for now's the invites....

A vellum wrap embossed partially using an embossing folder and a touch of twine.

A closer look at  Mrs Bunny who is hosting the brunch!

Theme: Tricky Bunny- With Easter and April Fools Day falling back to back, the Easter Bunny will no doubt be extra tricky. us your CAS Easter projects BUT we're throwing in a tricky CAN'T be a card.

We have a wonderful sponsor this week......

 Stamps- Crafters Companion, Martha Stewart

Hope you all like it, I sure had some great fun creating these!

Watercolor Stamping

Am back from a short vacation, worn out and jet lagged  and need another vacation to get over this one!
..thankfully it's almost weekend!

To avoid falling off to sleep at completely odd hours, I decided to get back to crafting and complete some DT projects, but my head is so foggy , I just could not think straight!
..until I saw this weeks Papertrey Ink Make it Monday#109..Betsy talked about watercolor and that was enough to perk me up..better than coffee!

Here is a card I came up with for this week's challenge..

I stamped the dress form image using regular watercolors since I did not have any reinkers and stamped again using versamark and embossed using clear embossing powder.

Since I love sentiments , I decided to fill it with text.

A closer look at the embossing.

All sentiments and image by Papertrey Ink.

Watercolor Bookmarks-Faber Castell

Today I have some lovely bookmarks to share with you all. These make such lovely gifts especially for all the readers on your gift list. These are  simple to make, just head over to the Faber Castell  Design Memory Craft Blog for a step by step tutorial.

I have used  Faber Castell watercolor and Pastel pencils to create these . The mix and match system from Faber-Castell makes designing with color so simple.  You  choose a color set that inspires you... then choose a medium. .and create! So if you pick up a red in watercolors and a red in pastels they will all blend and match with each other to give you a wonderful palette of colors.

Hope you are inspired to give them a try.

Thanks for joining me today.

CAS-ual Fridays

Am I glad it's  finally sure  was a hectic week here and am looking forward to a relaxing weekend..
This week CAS-ual Friday's is asking us  to use chipboard on our CAS projects..
......hmmm..this one had me thinking a bit, because I am not one of those who uses a lot of embellishments on my cards, so basically I had to look through my limited stash of embellies for something to use on my card.... when I came across this box of banners by Maya Road. It was sent to me  recently by a publication house and I thought it would be just perfect for this project.

I am simply so pleased with the way this card turned out. I tried something new..I adhered a couple of Thickers in the two alphabets and went around them with watercolors and stamped the polka dots . once dry removed them and adhered the chipboard banner, which was once again colored in orange and stamped with a sentiment.

The polka Dots are by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and I must say they line up so well and the images are so crisp!. Here I stamped them off once on scratch paper before stamping on the card to give it that slightly faded look.

and we have the wonderful and generous CAS-ual Fridays Stamps as the sponsor...

Song Bird

Today I have a card for Papertrey Ink current MIM#107- using clear cardstock.

For my card today, I revisited an earlier design of mine where I had used clear acrylic to protect my watercolor cards in the mail. I went with a similar idea, but instead of a painting , I just did a graded wash to achieve an ombre effect.

For a bit of an artsy look, I dripped Glossy Accents and let it run fact here is a canvas I did a month back for Faber Castell using the same technique to achieve that wet dripping water effect.

The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink -Happy Trails and  the bird and branch dies are by Memory Box.

Stamps- Papertrey Ink - Happy Trails

Although my post title says Songbird, I think my bird looks more like a Parrot lol!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

It's been a while since I last posted .....been way too busy completing some DT projects for the upcoming weeks..might have some travel coming up, so decided to plan ahead and schedule some posts.

Anyway , today I  made  some time to create a card for  the current challenge over at the Moxie Fab World- Emphasize the negative challenge.

It's all about using the negative space after you die cut . Here I used a Framed Out die by PTI  four times to create a window  to frame my image.

The  watercolored image is by Sweet Stamps and the sentiment by Anna Griffin.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

CAS-ual Fridays

Today is the beginning of all things good and fun .. is the start of my term as Designer for CAS-ual fridays!

And to kick it off we are having a wallpaper challenge....

I have always wanted  a wallpaper with the brushed suede effect , and there was a time when, wherever I looked I saw it, be it at a home store, or HGTV or the model homes, it was everywhere!
Unfortunately as much as I loved it , was never brave enough to wallpaper our home even just an accent wall.
So the next best thing to do when you love something a lot is to create a card with that look. I tell you it is much easier and way less expensive  too!

To achieve the  suede effect I heat embossed in white and applied a watercolor wash in yellow and went over it with an orange ink pad.
There is lots of inspiration over at Cas-ual Fridays...head over and play along!

and we have Ellen Hutson sponsoring this week....

A closer look at the suede effect...
