When Chaitali from Cuts, crops and creativity invited me for a blog hop way back in Sept, in celebration of Diwali -the Hindu festival of lights, I was pretty excited and eager to get started , but then life took over and I was just not able to commit to the hop..until a couple of days back when I went ahead and accepted the invite. With hardly any time left, I thought of a clean and simple design with all the elements of the festival in it..color, culture and celebration.
I was inspired by my wedding saree,
A traditional Indian attire, the saree is a part of almost every bride's trousseau in India. Mine is a red and green Kanjeevaram silk saree, which is woven out of pure silk yarn, which is hand dyed and woven on handlooms by artisans in Kanchipuram, a small little town in the southern part of India . It has a pure gold border and tiny little motifs sprinkled all over the saree .
Usually on important festivals like Diwali, it is customary to buy new clothes, and people are found wearing nice bright vibrant colors to celebrate the occasion.
Going with this inspiration, I went ahead and gold embossed some damask motifs on my card ...
.......here it is.....
Nothing says Diwali more than gold..yes it is true ! It is considered extremely auspicious to buy jewelry on this day.

That's such a pretty card Sanketi! Totally agree - gold and Diwali go hand in hand! What a lovely design and you're so right - when I see that card I can imagine a luxurious silk saree in my mind :)
