Prismacolors on Kraft

For a long time now I had been coveting a set of Prismacolor pencils, but  could not justify the purchase because I love my watercolors so much that I hardly ever use any other medium , not even my Copics.
                 .......But ....
.....I finally gave in and got myself a set of 24 and  after playing around with it the entire weekend I am regretting  not having taken the plunge earlier!

They are so buttery smooth and such a pleasure to blend, that I had to stop myself from over blending.I tried them on different cardstocks , and found, using a paper with a bit of tooth to it  made these pencils  perform the best.

Also after seeing other wonderful creations using Prismas on Kraft , especially those done by Danielle  I had to give it a try and I must say the look and feel on kraft is something that cannot be achieved on white cardstock. There is a  warm soft glow to the final piece.

Here is a card ...

I stamped and colored on Kraft and then fussy cut part of the image and embossed it from the back to give it a rounded , raised look.

The basket was also colored and fussy cut and then the lid was partially cut and embossed to give a raised look.

Colored the image with Copic markers

Christmas blessing sentiment by Crafters Companion and the believe sentiment original cover is lost so I am sorry I  will not be able to give it due credit

I know the amount of kraft is very minimal on this card , but I thought I would go ahead and share it any way.

I have another card coming up tomorrow which I am really excited about. I tried my Prismas on kraft and I can't wait to show it to you all  !

That's it for now, see you all tomorrow!

Festival Of Lights

For my PTI blog hop post click here

When Chaitali from Cuts, crops and creativity invited me for a blog hop way back in Sept,  in celebration of Diwali -the Hindu festival of lights, I was pretty excited and eager to get started , but then life took over and I was just not able to commit to the hop..until a couple of days back when I went ahead and accepted the invite. With hardly any time left, I thought of a clean and simple design with all the elements of the festival in it..color, culture  and celebration.

I was inspired by my wedding saree,

A traditional Indian attire, the saree is a part of almost every bride's trousseau in India.  Mine is a red and green  Kanjeevaram silk saree, which is  woven out of pure silk yarn, which is hand dyed  and woven on handlooms by artisans in  Kanchipuram, a small little town in the southern part of India . It has a pure gold border and tiny little motifs sprinkled all over the saree .

Usually on important festivals like Diwali, it is customary to buy new clothes, and people are found wearing nice bright vibrant colors to celebrate the occasion.

Going with this inspiration, I went ahead and gold embossed some damask motifs on my card ...
   .......here it is.....

Nothing says Diwali more than gold..yes it is true ! It is considered extremely auspicious to buy jewelry on this day.

a close up of the gold embossed motifs..

another saree which has the traditional gold mango/paisley border

I truly enjoyed creating this card, hope you all liked it !

we are having a  2 day blog hop with Oct 25 -just cards and Oct 26 - anything-but-a-card.

Chaitali  will also have a Linky up on her blog if you want to play along in the blog hop on any of the days. She will also have some Diwali cutting file freebies on these days. So join in the fun.

Celebrating You!

Before I get on with my post today , I would like to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to congratulate me on my publication, I was overwhelmed by the number of emails I received apart from the comments left here on my blog, thank you so much for sharing my joy and excitement.

Now for today's card....this weeks MIM #88 over at Papertrey ink is about positive and negative die cuts, so I got my Simply Jane stamps and dies and set to work .
....and here is what I came up with...

I seperated the tiny rose die from the rest of the dies in the set which made it super easy to die cut the flower in the hair , that is my negative part, which I stamped in with the coordinating stamp.

and for the positive,  I die cut some  more roses in blue and used them to decorate the bodice of the silhouette

the leaf branch is by Sizzix....all other stamps and dies are by Papertrey Ink.

Birds Of A Feather

A card inspired by Runway Inspired

The feather on this particular bird stamp looked like a button to me , so I used it to mimic the buttons on the jacket!

The stripes at different angles really caught my eye and I tried to achieve that with my score board, which also added some wonderful texture and extra dimension to the background.
...... drew the red and white stripes in my sentiment.

Also sharing with CAS-ual Fridays#75

I truly enjoyed creating this card, very different from my usual style, hope you all like it too!
