Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

This post is specially for the Graphic 45 design Team audition , I love the products by this Company so much that I jumped at the oppurtunity to create for them . They wanted to see some of our work in a blog post , so I thought I would go ahead and upload some of my work here .. Some of them have already appeared in diff posts for challenges , but I thought I would go ahead and gather them again in this post.

Project 1.
a 3D card using Tim Holtz Bird cage and ornamental Dies , butterfly Punch by Martha Stewart ,metal tag and some twine and some background stamp with text patterned paper , white and ivory cardstock.

Project 2.
A delft inspired blue and white card created by punching small squares using a Martha Stewart Punch and stamp each of them individually with different stamps with blue markers and the blue strip in the front was made by rubbing the same marker from light to dark. some sentiments and we have a card fit enough for the Dutch!

Project 3.
I Love You

A cute little romantic card perfect for Valentines or anniversay , this card uses a lot of patterned paper . 3 dimensional cards and paper piecing are some of my favorite techniques . The chairs were stamped and paper pieced and the sentiments just completed the beautiful emotions conveyed by this card...nothing more need be said ....this card says it all!

Project 4.

I' am here for you
People often talk of Paris with a romatic undertone , to me London feels the same. Having spent some beautiful memorable weeks there, I brought back from London , something more than just a memory card full of pictures. This card reflects those moments captured in color and dimension. The iconic Big Ben was the backdrop to this piece of art, with the red umbrella , a memory of the the unpredictable British weather. I enjoyed creating this card the most , since I could use my art background to good use, the stencilling and the card itself was made using distress inks which I have come to love a lot lately.

Project 5.

The wild Goose Chase
This layout showcases my affinity toward creating 3D work. I love seeing a lot of textures and patterns and dimension on my cards and layout . I stamped and cut out the flowers and the geese are each cut from extra photos .

Project 6.
The rings

I love this layout , (extremely close to my heart), for all the designing that went into it, the heat embossed flower on the left , the fonts , the large hearts and the doodling , all took a lot of thought process, and I would not be denying that this one took a lot of time , and it was well worth it!

Project 7.
Past Present Future
A mixed media creation , with a ceramic tiled coaster in the center altered with acrylic overlay, stencils and modelling clay and last but not the least house paint !

I think this more or less covers my style and techniques and the thought process that goes into my creations....sometimes clean and simple, sometimes elaborate.

Papertrey February Blog Hop

UPDATE: this card was chosen as Cream In Our Coffee By Play Date Cafe....Thanks PDCC

This month's theme was to create something interactive, so here is mine ... another version of my easel card which I so love to create ..they immediately take my cards to the next level.

Papertrey Ink Feb Blog Hop

The masking technique on this card was inspired by one made by Gayatri, she had taken the idea from the very same picture that I had kept in my favorites to case some day, when I saw hers I was immediately reminded of that pic and thought of taking it further with die cuts and grass and more sentiments.Check out her blog , she is one creative girl!

Seems like this fit in with the colors over at Play Date here we go .

Simon Says Stamp and Show - London

Today as I sat to create a card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge which needed us to incorporate either London , Paris or NY as part of the design, I was immediately tranported back in time when I was in London . Such a beautiful place , I just could not have enough of it and honestly did not want to come back home!. The unpredictable weather was something we got so used to that we would carry an umbrella even if the sun was shining in its full glory!

The brownish grey skies, and the red umbrella I carried around inspired this card. An icon of London, The Big Ben had to be there in the picture. So that's the story behind this card

I started with and ivory cardstock and stencilled the Big Ben with the help of the negative space left after cutting the skyscraper from a die by quickqutz using walnut stain distress ink and some watercolor pencils. The tree sillhoutte is from a tiny stamp by K and Co which I stamped repeatedly to create the branches. The umbrella stamp is by Unity and the larger sentiment by PTI. Some paper piecing for the pant and skirt and umbrella and this card came together beautifully.

paper pieced red umbrella and the clothes.

This is my second card for the Lawnscaping challenge - Distress inks since apart from the sentiment , everything else has been stamped and stenciled and distressed using walnut stain distress ink,I love to use it for such soft shadowy effects.

Make it Monday # 54 and CR8FN48

Here's a card for this weeks Make it Monday over at Papertrey Ink. The video was fabulous...thanks Ashley !
And for the CR8FN48, a color challenge ..loved the combo this time .

So at the end of a messy hour , I am finally here with a card. now why it took me an hour to add glitter to some buttons , you may ask and rightly so!.... because I had No buttons to start with , so I die cut some out of chipboard one at a time since I was afraid of ruining my new machine by feeding more than one layer !!!!!!
Then I used spray adhesive and added some Martha Stewart glitter to them , let dry and designed the card in the meanwhile using stamps by PTI and MM, colored in with watercolor markers , punched the grass, added ribbon, some twine and adhered the buttons and done.

The Cure for the Winter Blues

This Morning's challenge by Moxie Fab World got me into action ! It immediately set me thinking since I knew for sure I wanted to play along and wanted to go the blue and white way. In fact I have so much of the Spode and Delft pottery at home that I did not have to go far for inspiration . To top it , the delights over at Moxie fab itself were absolutely breathtaking. After I started working on the card , it dawned upon me that I had a half sewn Delft tile applique quilt from my quilting days that I had started with the help of this beautiful book by Judy Garden. So well anyways is my Delft inspired card...
I took this photo by Martha Stewart Crafts from Moxie Fab as a jumping off point for the card design

I started this card by punching out little squares and stamping each of them with a different stamp. Since I did not have navy blue ink , I used my watercolor markers to ink my stamps . I then adhered them to a navy blue cardstock with foam tape and then keeping with the inpiration photo color palette I added a strip of black and an embosssed piece of white cardstock . To mimic the rug in the front I created the blue paper by rubbing my watercolor marker light to dark on a white piece of cardstock, the light yellow and cream were the accents like the hat and the chair in the photo.... finally stamped the sentiment to finish it off.

I am totally pleased with the way it turned out ...hope you like it!

Lawnscaping Challenge # 28

Hello everyone, I am back with a card for the Lawnscaping Challenge, I used dies and distress inks to create this one...Since I have a brand spanking new Big Shot on my table now , all I can think of are new ways to use it more and more...I simply love it , don't know why I waited so long to get one. Yesterday, I went by to my local craft store to get some dies for it and found this wonderful bird cage die by Tim Holtz... wow !! is all that I am able to get out of me right now...I am in awe!

Here is my card.

The die and ink is by Tim Holtz, the background paper was stamped with distress ink and also edged the paper with the same. I die cut the cage and bird , the I miss you stamp is by PTI, punched the butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch, the flowers and heart are die cut using a cuttlebug die. I cut the front frame with the ornamental die by Tim Holtz.I loved working with these dies..( note to self..must get some more of them!)..well anyway added some stickles, metal tag and twine and called it done.

This fits into the Die cutting technique challenge by Hero arts.

Since I also uploaded this card over Flickr, there was a suggestion over there to enter it into the Inspiration Journal challenge , so I thought of going ahead and submitting it.

Hero Arts and Play Date Cafe#119

Hello everyone..hope you are having a great weekend , for me it's been an ignore untidy home crafty weekend !, been blog hopping and checking out new challenges and thought of playing along with old favorite Play Date Cafe and new found friend Hero Arts . Although I have quite a few Hero arts stamps , I had never ventured into their blog or submitted to any of their contests/challenges, so thought of making a start today and made a card for their friendship theme, it runs month long so I still have time to upload. I chose Play Date colors for the card which by the way is totally splashy!..Here are the colors..

Black and White with a 'splash' of the week's
designated color which is......

I stamped the background with Hero Arts Treasure The Moments stamps and then fussy cut the flower out of Colorbok speciality foil paper and punched out a circle out of Deja views vellum quote paper and layered it with white cardstock to make it stand out. The heat embossed friend sentiment is by PTI .

Love the way the foil paper catches the light !!!

Moxie Fab World

Today's card was made using the Moxie Fab colors different, so new to and hot pink ! well I had to give it a try since I love to try something new and out of my comfort zone. so here is my take .....

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger

I loved the mix of patterns in the trigger so went with the same concept. I started with a white piece of cardstock and began building different patterns on it. Instead of toile, I used a damask pattern stamp by Anna Griffin and used a deep red ink to create a subtle tone on tone effect , I also stamped the same on the white cardstock to give a feeling of light falling on it just as it is in the trigger. The aqua and hot pink are pieces of scrap paper and the black and white is from Harlequin stamps by Fiskars.
The silhouette and the sentiment are from the Simply Jane stamp set by PTI. I added gold stickles to give her a choker.

The stamp is from the same set by Fiskars and I added more gold stickles to mimic the gold headboard.

Must say I enjoyed it thoroughly, totally different from the CAS style that I like so much. Thanks Moxie Fab.
