Papertrey Ink Feb 2016 Blog Hop

It had been so long since I played along Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop! This month after the anniversary release, I put a reminder for today's hop. The inspiration picture was simply stunning and there was no way I would miss painting something inspired by it!

The picture is all about spring and pastels and flowers and butterflies ! I was particularly drawn to the flower and the colors.  I stamped the butterfly from the Happy Trails stamp set by PTI and sketched and painted the flower around it. The sentiment is from Meadow Greens by PTI.

Here is a closer look ....

A peek at another painting in progress!

This card will be available on Etsy later today!

Watercolors on 140# watercolor paper.

Here is another painting I did a couple of days back using the same pink..prints on society6

Hope you liked it...now off to hop and check out all the other lovely creations!

Have a wonderful day!

Hand Lettered - Grateful

Happy Monday everyone!

Last week I decided to try something new and different from what I had been doing so far. I tried to combine hand lettering and watercolors in a whole new way. An old technique that I had not ventured  into  until I was sure I would have the patience to complete the piece! I do not like to leave any of my paintings half done!

Although it did take a while to finish, I was truly satisfied with the end result . I think if I had used masking fluid, it would have been quicker, easier and I could have added more details to the background, but I got lazy and did not want to through an extra step of masking  and wanted to dive straight into the painting.

here are some of the pieces from last week...

Grateful-for the Flora and Fauna -  this one is available as prints and accessories on Society6. here is how it looks on cards

..

 Just Breathe..

This was specially done for me...a gentle reminder to breathe and remember the power of breath. As much as I know that practicing Pranayama / breathing exercises are good for me and need to be done everyday, I, often, fail to get into a discipline or set a schedule where yoga is given utmost priority. I seem to find time for everything else but exercise!  I have put this one in my studio to remind me to breathe while painting too. Often, when I am painting and concentrating on doing fine, detail work, I tend to take shallow breaths...this kinda reminds me to breathe when painting and not forget why I am doing it in the first place...reminds me that I am painting for pleasure and passion..not pain!

Prints on Society6.

These two cards are available as originals on Etsy

Have a nice week week ahead and thanks so much for stopping by!

Roses

Roses are blooming already..yes they are... in my little corner of the world...
......last week I decided to plant some roses....oops!....I mean  paint some roses and I got so carried away that I can now paint them  in my sleep!

It started with my sudden urge to paint some flowers which were more involved and tighter in technique. I intended to paint wet on dry and started on one and I have to confess, I did not go very far with that thought, in fact it was over even before it had begun!

I accepted it was not for me...it's a technique that I have never been crazy about..way too dry and predictable and makes me fiddle with my strokes a lot., leading to overworked mud!   I love the unpredictable nature of wet on wet and all the happy little accidents which often make me wonder .."how did I do that!"

So as is oft told..'old habits die hard'...I went back to my favorite technique and began to paint 'a' rose which soon ended up as 'many ' roses and still counting!

Here are just a few of them...

This one is still a work in progress piece and I posted a tiny video on Instagram to show how wet my paper is when I paint using the wet on wet technique.

Most of them will be available as prints on Society6 and I might add a few to Etsy as originals.

Hope you liked all the color in the middle of winter !

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week ahead!

Prints and more...Society6

        Cascading flowers

Happy Monday everyone, hope you had a relaxing weekend and got off to a fresh start this morning!

If you read my previous post than you know how excited I am about my new venture...making my artwork available as prints and more on Society6! So today, I thought of stopping by and sharing a promo code that I received from Society6.

As I learned the ins and outs of this website, I realized that there was a promo code that I could share with my friends and family but you would have to click this link to get that discount. So over the weekend, I spent some quality time learning the ropes of navigating through the S6 site and compiled this post for those who emailed me asking about the S6 site.

Here is some info for you....

1- This is where you will find Prints of my artwork. You will also be able to purchase other accessories like mugs, laptop sleeves, phone cases, throw pillows etc.

You will be able to only find prints of original artwork ie. where the entire artwork  has been composed and painted by me . Prints of stamped images will not be available even if it contains just  a sentiment. Those can be found as individually stamped and painted on Etsy.

2- You will not find original artwork there...for that you need to stop by my Etsy shop.

3- S6 is primarily for those who want to purchase prints of my artwork or boxed card sets and other accessories..because not everyone wants an art print!

4- Most importantly, there is worldwide shipping which I was not able to provide on Etsy.

5- Once I upload my artwork, S6 takes over, so be sure to read up their shipping, return policies and privacy policies, just as you would with any other online store.

and now for the Promo code....I believe they are currently offering free shipping on everything ( excluding framed and canvas prints) in the store and a promo on Pillows...

Click below to receive FREE Worldwide Shipping + 20% Off Throw Blankets and Pillows. Promotion expires February 7, 2016 at Midnight Pacific Time. *Free Shipping offer excludes Framed Prints and Canvas Prints
