The Horse...

Before I get on with today's card, I would like to thank each one of you who stopped by my blog  and left me some really lovely comments on my Pot Of Flowers  post and thanks for all wishes on the Tuesday Trigger win,  it was truly the frosting on the cake!

Today I have a card, rather a piece of watercolor that's going to be framed and sent to a friend whose daughter simply loves horses. She has started horse riding lessons, so I thought this would be perfect for her room. I will be framing it double mat, to give it added  depth and hopefully she will like it!

I was inspired by the colors over at Unity-Be inspired challenge. I did introduce some green and red for balance, but overall I stayed within the color frame of yellows and browns with a hint of blue.

Stamp-A -Faire- A sprinkle of salt technique

Playing along Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire-  A sprinkle of salt challenge.

I use this technique quite often on my watercolor  cards and simply love the effect. I wanted to try the other technique that Nicole shared, but I was out of plain old glue and decided to leave that for another day and made a card using my ole' favorite..sprinkle salt on wet paint.

Stamps- PTI- Sending my love, happy trails

Dropped colors randomly across the paper and sprinkled salt while still wet...let dry completely before brushing off. stamped the butterflies and sentiment.

 A closer look....

....notice the mottled effect of salt on watercolor....it can be seen pretty well in the picture  above  ...on the green at the top middle of the card ...

Stamp- A- Faire - Take 2

I am finally back home, but with the light fading, I don't think I will be able play along tonight, but I did try to get one done before it got too dark....

Playing along Papertrey Ink Stamp- A- faire- Whipping up Scent-sational cards.

A scratch and sniff card....

I created a card that would go well with a Starbucks gift card, since that is one of my standard gift cards during the holidays.
I  used the coffee + embossing powder recipe. I applied it outside,  to the coffee sleeve.

A pot of flowers

ETA- this card made it as Trigger Target over at the Moxie Fab World!

A pot full of flowers today!
..with summer almost behind us, I am trying to enjoy the last bit of my blooming flowers. I love the look of fresh flowers in my home, unfortunately with the short growing season here, it's impossible to have them year round .  I collected some almost fading  lilies from my yard yesterday  and put them in this beautiful Spode  blue tea pot, to punch up the yellow colors a bit.
As I set them on wood floor to take some pictures, I thought of sketching the pretty flowers before they lost their color further.

When  I came by Cath's Tuesday Trigger, I  decided to recreate the sketch using this lovely botanical stamp by Sweet Stamps .

Dear Santa.....

After a really busy weekend, I finally got some time today to paint and here is what I came up with!  I stayed with a holiday theme, cause this year I want to be better prepared with my stash and not  have to stay up late  to finish working on my commissions and personal stash, and of course I love painting holiday cards especially using stamps like these which make it so quick and easy!

The stamp is by Crafter's Companion..and used watercolors to paint.

If you observe closely there is a difference between the above picture and the rest of the pics....
..found it..?

 ...yes... flocking!

I have always wondered how people added a snow like effect to their cards and it was just by chance that  I picked up this jar of flocking powder, the other day, came home and tried it on dear Santa and Voila...a velvety, soft and 3d effect on my card!
I took a before and after picture just to show what a huge difference, little details like these add to a card.
I am so super excited about this new discovery, that I have gone a bit overboard and used it in every possible way on every possible card !

 Here is a closer look.....

Monochromatic

 A  monochromatic card today ....
..I love using just one color and trying to come up with different shades, to achieve depth!

                Stamps-Image- Stampavie-Sarah Kay, Unity-Sentiment

Last week I came across a stamp which has truly won me over...Stampavie's Sarah kay collection. The illustrations are simply stunning and I got a couple of them to try and now I simply can't wait to collect all of them! I truly admire artists who can draw so well, I have yet to reach that stage where I can be proud of my drawing skills.....oh! ..what would I do without stamps!

Clearly Besotted !

Before I get on with my card for today , I would like to thank each and everyone who left me comments and sent me emails about my previous posts..Grateful  and In the Meadow,

I am glad you'll liked it and appreciate you'll taking the time to leave a comment. Also I was asked if I sell my cards, especially holiday cards...it's something I have been contemplating for a while now, so who knows, maybe this year I might step into that foray of selling my work! At this time all I would say is, if you are interested in a particular card email me!

About today's card.....

I simply can't stop coloring my Clearly Besotted stamps, this is my fourth card using the same flower stamp, just that my earlier 3 were whisked away by friends even before I could take a picture, so I  colored one more.... again!.....and decided to get this one up on my blog before it got away from me.  I had some friends over yesterday and they saw a card on my desk that I had just finished with and before I knew, I was sitting and painting two more, while they chatted and snacked on chips and cookies!!  I think it's time I seriously stopped giving away my work and started selling them instead!!! ( girls ... you hear me?...these friends of mine read my blog  and kind of push me to post something every single day! .... love them!)

Stamps -Clearly besotted and Sentiment -Hobby Lobby

But I did enjoy myself though, these stamps lend to painting so well, it's a pleasure to color them . The images are so crisp and  well defined..love them! I must get more of these!

I watercolored the images and then went over parts of it with Prismacolor pencils, to give it that extra glow and feel of light.

Hope you liked my card for today!
......thanks for stopping by!
