Make It Monday

Hello everyone..hope you'll had  a wonderful weekend!

Today I am playing along  with Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #127-double backgrounds
Dawn's beautiful cards stamped with pretty roses was the primary reason why I got this stamp set, so when I saw her video this morning I decided to open my new stamp set and get inky!

I stamped the stripes by Hero arts, stamped the roses, the sentiment and  finally adhered the die cut rose and leaves.

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop

I totally forgot about the PTI blog hop today!
I just got back home and realised it was blog hop day! Anyways with very little time left, I got started and came up with something really quick and easy. When I had seen the blog hop inspiration pic, I had tons of ideas, but when I sat down to create, I went totally blank!

I stamped the tomato from the PTI -vegetable garden stamp set and went over it with my watercolors. Then slowly sketched my background around it . the sentiment is from the PTI-  Sweet Life set.

Here are my inspiration colors  .......

Also added some Glossy Accents to give the tomato a wet look.

Also sharing with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- Summer food/drink
Tomatoes are my favorite, especially in the summer when we grow them in our yard . I love having them on my toast with just a sprinkle of salt!..yumm!

A closer look......

Off to hop now...thanks for stopping by!

Believe In Miracles.....

Sharing a card with Mixed Media color challenge#3

I have used  a stamp by Tim Holtz(the eye) and the sentiment is from Hobby Lobby. The rest .....watercolors. I stamped the eye and went over it wet in wet using watercolors. As a final touch I did some splattering and retouched the eye with a graphite pencil.

I am loving it ...if I may say so myself!

........and thanks for stopping by today!

Defined Watercolors

I have a card today using the  watercolor technique shown by Erin over at Papertrey Ink..Make it Monday#125.

The overstamping with regular ink gives a  sharpness to an otherwise soft watercolor look. As much as I love that softness, I did enjoy this technique and might use it more often.

The sentiment is by PTI and butterfly by Martha Stewart.

Will keep this post short, hope you liked my card today...thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays- Polka Dots

Welcome back to a CAS-ual Fridays post!

Ever since I saw this card by the die cutting expert  JJ Bolton  I had been wanting to give it a try.  I kept postponing knowing well that I did not have the kind of patience that was required to handle those tiny little alphas and most importantly I did not have alphabet dies!

Last month, I finally took the plunge and ordered  a set of memory box dies and as soon as it was in my hands, this card was my very first attempt...a feeble one no doubt , but I am glad I tried !

I chose polka dots as my image so that lining up would be easier and still I had much difficulty doing that , but I was brave enough to show you some close ups!

.... and talking of polka dots, that's our theme for this week over at CFC..easy peasy!

We have Simon Says Stamp sponsoring this week , so head over and check out the rest of the DT creations and of course do join us .

Stamps are by Wplus9 Folk art florals  and CAS-ual fridays

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Go green!

Playing along with Papertrey Ink Make It Monday#124 . This week it's all about dressing up your envelopes and creating a card and envelope set.
Here is my seed packet envelope and a handmade paper card filled with seeds.... ready to plant!

stamps-  All Papertrey Ink-Vegetable Garden, Everyday Button Bits,Year of flowers,Die-PTI Mat Stack. Stamps- studio G

Every year as the growing season comes to an end , I collect seeds hoping to  stash them away for the next year, but almost always end up giving most of it away to my friends and neighbors. Some I hang on to, to add to my handpressed paper pulp...yes, I make paper all through summer and fall using junk mail and flowers from my garden, in fact I think I had done a post on it about a year back.. or if you click on Handpressed paper link above, you can get an idea of what I am talking about!

Coming back to the seeds, I usually just put them in  a ziplock and give them, which I know is not good for the seeds, especially if they are still damp and not thoroughly dried. So this year I decided to do seed packets, which  I guess is a more decent way of sharing these seeds too.

I love  recycling stuff, with the junk mail taken care of, I am constantly looking for ways to use the brown bags we get from Whole Foods. The quality is so good, paper so thick, that I just cannot get myself to put it in the recycle bin..so I hoard  and hoard and use some in my paper making ...and hoard more....until I get threatened by hubs that he is going to throw them out !
I guess I should remember to carry my own bag next time!

Having survived yet another trash day yesterday, my stash of  brown bags were pleading to be put to good use and I thought ...hmmm.....what better way then to make seed packets out of them...light bulb moment!

With no PTI seed packet die to help me, I tore open an old seed packet and used it as a  template and got some 5 done before I decided to get myself the die and save myself from all the cutting and scoring and frustration!

Hope you  enjoyed my creation for today...with recycled kraft paper, handpressed paper and seeds I sure have some green going on here, now if only I could get some vegetable dye inks.......

I have  used the Monday Mood board #16 as my inspiration

....... used  Wplus9 Folk art florals and Sweet Nothings stamp set.

A pretty straight forward card with a whole lot of stamping!

CAS-ual Fridays #108

Welcome back to a CAS-ual Fridays post everyone, hope you all enjoyed the arrows challenge last week!
This time around we are playing with fabric..time to dig out those scraps, or if you are like me then you sure have quite a few unfinished fabric projects which are sitting in a box waiting to see the sewing machine!
I had purchased some toile fabric long years back to make a quilt and some placemats. The quilt got done, the placemats not so much!  So after much thought I finally decided to cut it up and put it  to good use.

I fussy cut an image out of the fabric and adhered it to cardstock and colored in using Prismacolors. The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink-Sweet life. Unfortunately I cannot find the fabric brand..the selvage has long gone and I see no name elsewhere on the fabric.

we have Ellen Hutson sponsoring this week.

Here is a close up of the fabric before and after I colored it

Do stop by the CFC blog for lot's more inspiration by the rest of the DT.

See you at the CFC gallery.

A Special Friend

Hello everyone and happy 4th of July to all those in the States!

I spent a part of my morning lazing, browsing and enjoying the sun. As I was browsing, I  came across this new blog, it's a color challenge blog, where you are encouraged to use different types of media on a single project...... it's what I do all the time, mixing watercolors with markers and inks and pencils  and of course I jumped right in..bid goodbye to the sun and head indoors for some mixed media crafting!

And here is what I came up with.....I went with Spectrum Noir markers and watercolors today.

I have been playing with my new Crafter's Companion stamps for the past couple of  weeks and this is a set from their Crisalis Classics collections- The Rehearsal. I used Spectrum Noir markers to color in the image and watercolors to do the background .

Sharing with A Mixed Media color Challenge#2

and Spectrum Noir- July Challenge-Friendship

Also I used a technique where we scribble a marker and spray rubbing alcohol on it to dilute it and then use a brush to apply the color . This makes it easy to fade the colors and achieve a more watercolor look. This tutorial can be found on the Spectrum Noir website.
